Marken is a former island, now a peninsula in the Markermeer, which is connected to the mainland by a causeway since 1957. Marken is in the north of the Netherlands
Tourists mainly come to Volendam for the costumes and fishing boats. There are many souvenir shops on the dike in the port. It is possible to take the boat from Volendam to Marken. The Volendam museum with the Cigar House and Palingsound Museum are also worth a visit. The former fishing village is a beautiful attraction, the colorful costumes also contributed to this.The drawbridges and the beautiful wooden houses on stilts are characteristic.
We start the tour in Amsterdam, Following this route, we will go to Volendam to visit this authentic village. From Volendam you will be transferred by boat to Marken where you can discover the fishing village. From Marken we will bring you back to the pick up location.
